A late 1960s issue of our school magazine described St Mary’s as ‘more than a place of learning’ and this description of our school rings as true today.
The core of St Mary’s learning philosophy is the education of the whole person. We are renowned for our high level of academic achievement and vibrant co-curricular programme. The girls are offered opportunities to learn new skills, take on leadership roles and develop their self-confidence.
Our commitment to discovering new ways to deliver excellence in education is embodied in the new St Mary’s at Metricup: A Centre for Learning and Leadership. This 100 acre rural campus, in the heart of the Margaret River Wine Region, will form the focus of our outdoor education programme and, in the longer term, accommodate girls on extended residential camps. This property opened in April 2008, and St Mary’s is the first all girls’ school in Western Australia to establish such a facility.
Our school community is friendly, supportive and well-ordered, with an emphasis on traditional values. Our school motto, fideliter, meaning faithfully, urges students to be true to themselves and to others. Highly qualified and caring staff show a genuine interest in each student’s development, encouraging them to strive for personal excellence.
For more than eighty five years, St Mary’s has played a vital role in the education of girls and young women, with enduring friendships forged and ongoing links with the school maintained.
We look forward to educating your daughter – to sharing her formative years, seeing her grow, discovering her strengths and preparing her for the future.
Mrs Lynne Thomson Principal
