Whatever a student's artistic talent she will find an outlet for it within St Mary's vibrant creative performing arts scene. There are over 30 courses in Art, Dance, Drama, Music and Media as well as numerous opportunities to be involved through the extra curricular programme.
Each girl is encouraged to open her mind to a world of creative-thinking, self expression, visual communication and imagination. Whether she is an aspiring sculptor, flautist, documentary film maker or ballerina, she can follow her dream through her studies, or just enjoy taking part.
Art and Music are compulsory in Year 8 and offered to students as an option in Years 9 and 10. Drama and Media Studies are offered as an option in Years 8 to 10 and Dance is offered in Years 9 and 10.
Students are offered a range of Tertiary Entrance Scoring subjects and Wholly School Assessed subjects in Years 11 and 12: Art, Art and Design, Dance, Drama, Media Production and Analysis and Music.
The Creative and Performing Arts Festival is a highlight of the school calendar. Students participate in a wide range of cultural activities, including a Wearable Art Performance, Interhouse Singing, Public Speaking, Debating, Photography, a fashion parade of garments created by students from Fabrics Design and Technology, a live cook off and a range of baking competitions. There is a huge instrumental and vocal compenent, with solo and ensemble performances.
