Year 10

Economics is a compulsory subject for all Year 10 students. The course focuses on the ways in which the Australian economy produces, distributes and consumes goods and services. Topics covered include inflation, income distribution, unemployment and changing economic systems.

Years 11 and 12

Economics


Economics is a Tertiary Entrance Scoring subject. The course aims to make students aware of contemporary economic issues and problems and to develop informed citizens able to participate in their changing economic and social environment.

During the course, students develop the skills of logical thinking, report writing and evaluating theories. Students study international economics, government economic policies, microeconomic principles such as demand and supply, macroeconomic problems such as inflation and unemployment and can choose from a variety of options including Firms and Production, Australia and ASEAN and Environmental Economics. Year 11 Economics students may also have the opportunity of a field excursion to a major producing company.
