Each year the OGA, Old Girls and St Mary's offer a number of scholarships, awards and prizes for students and Old Girls of the school.

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR OLD GIRLS

Bonny Milne Scholarship for Medicine 

The Bonny Milne Scholarship for Medicine was awarded for the first time in 2015 and has been made possible by a gift from an anonymous donor. The Scholarship is open to students entering the first year of a postgraduate medical degree or the second year of an undergraduate Medical degree at any University, who can demonstrate an outstanding and ongoing contribution to the community. Esmee Byatt Scholarship for Medicine*
The Esmee Byatt Scholarship for Medicine was established in 2005 as a result of a bequest from the late Mrs Esmee Byatt (Templeton '30) who spent nine years as a student at the Church of England Girls' School, St Mary's West Perth. The Scholarship is awarded to an Old Girl commencing her second year of a postgraduate Medical degree at the University of Western Australia only. For further information please click here.

Deborah Cook Scholarship for Nursing*

The Deborah Cook Scholarship was established in 2012 with a bequest from the will of Mrs Cook. It is awarded to an Old Girl commencing her second year of Nursing or Midwifery studies at any university. Deborah Cook (Parker '29, Head Girl) attended St Mary's between 1922 and 1929. She graduated as a registered nurse in 1933 and served in the Middle East during WWII as a Nurse Lieutenant until her marriage in 1941. Her life was dedicated to charitable works and, in her life time, Mrs Cook was a generous and committed supported of St Mary's. For further information please click here.

Fay Bailey Scholarships for Engineering, Science and Law*

The Fay Bailey Scholarships were awarded for the first time in 2014 and have been made possible from a generous bequest from the late Miss Fay Bailey ('40). Fay served as a member of the Old Girls' Association between 1952 and 1990 and was a long-time and generous supporter of the school's Foundation. The Scholarships will be awarded to Old Girls who are entering their third year of an Engineering, Science-related or Law degree or the first year of a postgraduate Law degree. Helen Judge Art Award

Helen Hyslop (Judge ’50, Head Girl) is a passionate artist. In 2009 she generously established an Award to support Old Girls studying any of the fine arts. Old Girls commencing their second or third year of an fine art-related university degree are eligible to apply for the Award. For further information please click here.

*The Fay Bailey Scholarships, Esmee Byatt Scholarship and  Deborah Cook Scholarship were established as a result of gifts left to St Mary's in the wills of these Old Girls. The School and the recipients are sincerely grateful to them for their generosity. Awarded to a Year 10 student

The Dannatt Bursary
Named in honour of the school's first Headmistress, Miss E H Dannatt (1923-1937), the bursary offers financial support to a student on the Principal's recommendation.

SPEECH NIGHT PRIZES

The Helen Judge Art Prize for Painting and Sketching
Awarded to a Year 12 student who has excelled in painting and sketchingDonated by Helen Hyslop (Judge '50, Head Girl)

Denise Marshall Prize for Cooperation and Endeavour
Awarded to a Year 12 student who has shown the characteristics of persistence, conscientiousness in study and a willing and active involvement in school life. Donated by Denise Lane (Marshall '79).

Elizabeth Myles Prize for the Appreciation of Literature
Awarded to a Year 11 student who has demonstrated a passion for and appreciation of literature. Funded by Old Girls from Mrs Myles' time who have made gifts to The Elizabeth Myles Trust.

The Elizabeth Myles Trust was founded in 2007 by two Old Girls from Mrs Myles' time and is solely funded by ongoing donations from Old Girls. It is the hope of the founders that enough capital can be raised to endow the Prize so it can be awarded in perpetuity. If you would like to make a donation to the Trust please complete this form.

Ruth Rowell Prize for the Art of Speech
Awarded to a Year 12 student who has displayed significant talent in, and aptitude for, public speaking. Donated by Ruth Phelps, in memory of her mother Ruth Rowell (Robinson ‘34), President of the OGA 1973-1975.
