From Anticipation to Celebration – The Class of 2018 Impresses!

St Mary’s Anglican Girls’ School is thrilled with the achievements of the Class of 2018 and would like to congratulate our girls and acknowledge their strong results in the recent WACE examinations.

We commend them all for the ongoing and considerable contributions they have made to the school community during their time at St Mary’s.

As outgoing Principal, Mrs Lynne Thomson, says,

“While academic excellence is a key driver, reflected by these outstanding results, our focus at St Mary’s is also on ‘growing great girls’ and their development into happy, capable, kind adults who excel in life, both professionally and personally. We are very proud of them all”.

The overall strength, as well as the hard work of the year group as a whole, is reflected in the ATARs (Australian Tertiary Admission Ranks) achieved by the students. The median ATAR for 2018 was 91.90, compared to the state median of 81.80.

From our cohort of 152 students who achieved an ATAR in 2018, we have the following impressive statistics:

ATAR

These results indicate the overall strength and academic depth of the group and they give our students a large range of choices for tertiary studies.

We also acknowledge the dedication and achievements of our VET students who were awarded 54 VET certificates; 9 Certificate IIs, 32 Certificate IIIs and 13 Certificate IVs.

Congratulations to Kate Cochrane who is a recipient of the Australian Super Westscheme Division Award for Excellence in VET. Kate has completed a Certificate IV in Business, in which she was named joint Student of the Year. She is currently completing a fast track Diploma of Business with the aim for qualifying for direct entry to ECU to study a Bachelor of Education in Home Economics.

We congratulate all our students on their achievements, and acknowledge our teaching team, for their commitment and dedication in motivating and guiding our girls to reach their potential.

We await the announcement of award winners for General Exhibitions and Course Exhibitions, as well as Certificates of Excellence, Distinction and Merit.

Scholarship examinations for entry into Years 7 and 8 in 2020 will be held at the school on Saturday 18 May. For further information or to register to sit these examinations, please visit:  http://www.stmarys.wa.edu.au/scholarships
