These include:

Debating is very popular. Teams enter two Interschool competitions. Interclass and interhouse debates are held as well.

HOPE (Help Our Planet Earth)

HOPE is an organisation of students within the school, which concentrates on looking after the planet. Its emphasis is on such global and local issues as re-cycling, endangered species, economic use of resources and raising awareness of these and other related issues amongst the students.

International Students

The International Student Group arranges a number of activities including the organisation of the annual Harmony Day, a Multicultural Food Fair and a Multicultural Assembly. There are also opportunities for St Mary's international students to meet with international students from other Perth schools.

Girls from St Mary's participate in a number of surfing competitions throughout the year, and there is usually at least one surf camp. Surfing is organised for some mornings before school.

Private or group lessons are available.

Tournament of Minds

Tournament of Minds is an interschool competition involving dramatic performance to solve a specified problem, students being encouraged to think creatively to reach a solution. Girls participate in teams of seven, made up of students from Years 8-10. The competition is in Term III, with meetings held weekly in Terms I and II to practise and prepare.
