Surfing Program - St Mary's Anglican Girls' School

Surfing Program

Given St Mary’s proximity to the ocean, surfing is an incredibly popular pastime for many of our students. That is why we offer an extensive co-curricular surfing program that includes before-school surfing lessons and a series of camps held at our St Mary’s at Metricup campus, which is located in the heart of the world-famous Margaret River region. In 2022, close to 250 Senior School students and 50 Junior School students participated in our co-curricular surfing program.

Our before-school surfing lessons, conducted by qualified and experienced instructors at nearby Trigg Beach, cater to surfers of varying abilities. The girls can progress from beginner to advanced skills sessions as their confidence grows.

St Mary’s also has its own surf club, which provides opportunities for students to represent the School in a variety of surfing competitions throughout the year. Members of our surf club have represented St Mary’s at state and national competitions.

St Mary’s is all about girls discovering their best. We want our students to be engrossed in the exploration of ideas, to be self-motivated and self-directed, to delight in trying something new and to contribute positively to the community.
