Business of the Month - Lizzy Pepper Marketing

Lizzy Pepper Marketing

Old Girl, Lizzy Pepper ('98), might just have the work-life balance just right with her business in Dunsborough. She took the leap upon returning to Australia and developed her own marketing consultancy to promote local businesses. Learn more about Lizzy and her business below.

Tell us about your business and how it began.

I run a boutique marketing consultancy in Dunsborough specialising in tourism and wine. Upon returning from working in London I realised I was living in a unique part of the world and had the knowledge to start my own business. There are so many businesses that need specialist marketing skills, without the expense of a full-time employee or large marketing agency. I took the leap of faith, and it’s paid off!

What was your biggest break getting into this business?

Winning the contract to manage the "@MargaretRiver" social media channels with photographer, Tim Campbell – look us up on Instagram or Facebook. It is such a privilege to showcase this beautiful region. A fun part of the contract is a monthly photoshoot where we explore the region, documenting some incredible experiences. I’ve abseiled Wilyabrup Cliffs, dived off Busselton Jetty, met renowned artists in their studios, explored million-year-old caves and sipped wine in the vineyard with Wine Maker of the Year.

What makes your business special, unique, or different?

I’m emotionally invested in each business I represent. It’s my goal to create the very best marketing campaigns I can for each client. As a result, I have wonderful work opportunities come to me purely via word of mouth.

What is the best business advice you have ever been given?

Always be kind.

I’ve also been told to pick a specialist niche. Mine is tourism, so I’m performing some wonderous COVID-19 pivots as we speak!
