Dynamic debating duo earns state selection

Congratulations to St Mary’s debating stars, Anya and Jaime, who recently earned a spot on the Western Australian State Debating Team.

The talented Year 11s endured a gruelling series of trials – including a two-day event involving six demanding debates – just to make the initial WA squad and later survived two rounds of cuts to secure their place on the final four-person team.

We are also thrilled to announce that Anya will captain the representative team.

The girls will continue their training as they prepare to take on Australia’s most astute school-aged debaters at the 2022 National Schools’ Debating Championships, which will be held in Canberra next month.
