Kindergarten - ‘Bright Beginnings’

Our vibrant and spacious Kindergarten is where our girls experience an exciting beginning in their first year at St Mary’s. Teaching and learning in Kindergarten is child centered and play based, where intentional teaching is blended with inquiry based learning experiences.

The five areas of learning and development in the Kindergarten Curriculum Guidelines are based on the five outcomes of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). Areas of learning include: Identity, Connecting and Contributing, Wellbeing, Learning and Thinking, and Communicating.

Kindergarten is available for girls that will be turning four by the 30thJune in the year that they commence. The Kindergarten programme runs five days of the week from Monday through to Friday and the hours are from 8.35am until 2.45pm. Specialist teaching and programmes include; Religion, Physical Education, Music and Enrichment Programmes. We integrate Bush School into the Early Years Programme, exploring our neighbouring Trigg Bushland Reserve during the cooler months of the year. Our girls attend the Junior School Assembly, Library and Chapel. We have a Speech Pathologist that can work with children on site and Child Health Nurses that conduct screening assessments.

Our aim in Kindergarten is to work in partnership with parents so all our girls have a bright beginning.
