Supporting the SETI Centre

A strong tradition of community support at St Mary’s has helped create many of the facilities students benefit from today. The SETI Centre is our next chapter, and together we can shape how students learn, explore and innovate from the moment the Centre opens.

You can help ignite her future and leave a lasting impact by making a gift to the SETI Centre that will ensure it opens complete with the specialist equipment, technology, furniture, installations and resources that will bring the building to life.

Gifts to the SETI Centre campaign will be acknowledged through a range of meaningful recognition opportunities, offering donors the chance to celebrate their family’s connection to St Mary’s, honour a loved one or create a lasting legacy within the new Centre. Gifts may be pledged over a period of two years and are fully tax-deductible.

Giving FAQs

How is the Centre being funded?

The School has carefully planned and saved for over 15 years to support the developments outlined in the 2019–2030 Masterplan. The Centre is being funded through a combination of School reserves, borrowings, and contributions from the Foundation and philanthropic support, reflecting a shared investment in the School’s future.

How will my gift be used?

All donations to the SETI Centre will be directed to elevating the internal fit-out of the building ensuring the Centre will open fully equipped and ready for learning from day one with:

  • Specialist laboratory equipment for Science, Marine Science, Technology and Engineering
  • Advanced technology and digital learning infrastructure
  • Custom teaching furniture and collaborative workstations
  • Safety systems and specialist installations

Philanthropic support also helps ensure funds are not diverted from other critical areas, and the new building can serve its intended purpose effectively to benefit all students.

How can I make a gift

You can make a gift in a number of ways:

  • You can choose an Element on the Periodic Table installation that will be displayed in the foyer of the SETI Centre.
  • You can help us fit out a specialist learning environment by supporting a laboratory, breakout pod or open studio.
  • You can make a gift to the Building Fund.

Your gift may be made as a single donation or pledged over a period of time. For example, you can make your donation in monthly, quarterly or annual instalments across two years.

How does a pledge work?

You can pledge your gift with regular instalments over a period of up to two years.

You can choose your payment schedule when you make a pledge online or complete a giving card. If the available instalment schedules do not suit you, please contact the Philanthropy Team and we would be happy to discuss alternative arrangements.

If you are making your pledge online, your first payment will be required at the time you make your pledge.

Once we have received your pledge, we will confirm your instalment schedule in writing and will provide details on how to make your future payments.

How will my gift be recognised?

The generosity of donors to the SETI Centre will be acknowledged through a range of recognition opportunities. Donors who choose an Element will be personally recognised on the Periodic Table installation that will be displayed in the SETI Centre foyer, and those who invest in a learning space will be exclusively recognised on a plaque for their selected space. Recognition will remain for the life of the building. All donors will be recognised in St Mary’s annual Thanks to You Impact report and Donor Honour Roll.

If you are interested in leaving a legacy or honouring a loved one in this way, we would be pleased to discuss this with you.

Can my donation remain anonymous?

Yes. Should you wish for your donation to remain anonymous, you can let us know when you make your gift.

Is my donation tax-deductible

Yes. All donations over $2 are tax deductible and a receipt will be issued upon receipt of your donation.
